Billy Long: Fourth-Generation Native of SW Missouri

Billy Long worked as an auctioneer and realtor in Southwest Missouri for more than 30 years. Growing up in a family filled with generations of entrepreneurs, Billy started his first small business with his sister while he was just in high school. He owned Billy Long Auctions, LLC, and was voted best auctioneer in the Ozarks for seven years in a row. As a former business owner, Billy knows first-hand how government regulation and heavy taxes can affect the small businesses that serve as the economic engine of our country. Billy is also a former talk radio show host on KWTO AM 560 in Springfield, with a listening area that covered 95 counties, including all of the Seventh Congressional District.

He served on the National Auctioneer Association’s National Board of Directors. He is a past president of the Missouri Professional Auctioneers Association, and a member of the Missouri Professional Auctioneers Hall of Fame.

Billy attended the University of Missouri in Columbia. He graduated from the Missouri Auction School in Kansas City, receiving Certified Auctioneer Institute designation at the University of Indiana-Bloomington. He currently resides in Springfield with his wife, Barbara, and has two grown daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Long attend the First & Calvary Presbyterian Church in Springfield. In November of 2012, Billy was elected to his 2nd term in Congress by an overwhelming majority of voters in the 7th Congressional District of Missouri.

Billy serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee as well as serving on three Energy and Commerce Subcommittees: Communications and Technology, Energy and Power, and Health.
