Billy Long on Arizona Shooting

"My first thought was, I hope it's erroneous."

Southwest Missouri Congressman Billy Long tells News Talk KZRG what was running through his mind when he heard that Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords had been shot.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims of Saturday's horrific tragedy in Tucson and we just continue to pray for them and keep them in our thoughts and prayers. Your heart has to be ripped out when you think of Christina Taylor Green, a 9-year-old that was elected to her student council. She went Saturday all perky to see her United States Representative and, to me, that's what we need to be concerned with."

Long says the focus of an event like this should be on the victims. He says its unfortunate that both sides are trying to score political points because of the tragedy.
